Get involved with the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction

The theme for the 2025 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR), commemorated on 13 October, is “Fund Resilience, Not Disasters.” This theme highlights the urgent need to address the escalating costs of disasters by shifting focus from reactive response to proactive investments in disaster risk reduction. The 2025 campaign promotes two key calls to action: increase funding for disaster risk reduction, and ensure all public and private investments are risk-informed and resilient.

Responding to these calls can transform the disaster risk landscape, accelerate Sendai Framework implementation, and reduce the human and economic toll of disasters.

We invite you to share events and initiatives that demonstrate funding for resilience and risk-informed investment.
