From knowledge to action: Communication for a safer world

We know more about disaster risk than ever before. Yet too often, warnings go unheeded, trusted information fails to reach the people who need it, and knowledge does not lead to action. Effective communication can help bridge this gap, ensuring that risk information is accessible, relevant and trusted, and that people are better equipped to make informed decisions and take action. UNDRR and UNESCO will co-organize an event bringing together leaders and practitioners from media, technology, health, humanitarian action and disaster risk reduction to explore the role of communication in creating a safer, more resilient world. Together, we will examine how to reach people in a rapidly changing information landscape, strengthen trust, harness new technologies and build stronger partnerships across sectors to help turn risk knowledge into action.
