Kerala State Disaster Management Authorities: IDDRR events 2023
To commemorate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority is organising programs under the theme "Disseminating Indigenous Knowledge for Disaster Resilience. (തദ്ദേശീയ ദുരന്ത വിജ്ഞാന പുനരുജ്ജീവനം)" To commence, we are primarily focussed/enfolded on the Adivasi (tribal) population of the state, harnessing their indigenous wisdom to enhance resilience in disaster management. The Consolidated report of the events will be prepared.
As we approach IDDRR 2023, KSDMA's objectives align closely with the broader SENDAI framework, where it emphasises the importance of addressing inequality to build a more resilient future. KSDMA is proposing to tap into the wealth of indigenous knowledge present within our communities and integrate it into our disaster management practices. This initiative aims to celebrate the wisdom passed down through generations and leverage it to create a more resilient future for everyone. Through this effort, KSDMA moves one step closer to ensuring that no one is left behind in our pursuit of a safer and more equitable world.
