The Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro brings the eighth edition of GIRD 2023 - Giornata Internazionale per la Riduzione dei Disastri, to Naples and Sorrento, aiming to raise awareness among communities in a fragile area such as the province of Naples.

The event will be held on 13 October at 4.30 p.m. in Naples, at the Sala Nugnes of the Naples City Council in Via Verdi 35. The theme of the meeting will be 'Effects of emergencies: between testimony, memory and psyche'. Two lecturers from the University of Naples Federico II, Prof. Tommaso Longobardi, Professor of Psychiatric Phenomenology of Stress, and Prof. Leonardo Distaso, Professor of Aesthetics, will take part in the meeting. Two apparently distant points of view that converge on the theme of the day. During the event, historical photographs of disasters that hit the territory, kindly made available by the Carbone Photographic Archive, will be shown.

Vincenza Amato, President of the Naples City Council, and Prof. Antonio Virgili, National President of the Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro, will open the event.

In Sorrento on 14 October at 10.30 a.m. in the Council Chamber of the Sorrento Town Hall there will be a meeting entitled "Disasters and resilience in the Sorrento peninsula: the emergencies of a territory between the hills and the sea", which will be attended by CNR researchers Francesco Paolo Buonocunto and Alfonsa Milia of ISMAR, Vincenzo Di Fiore of the Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences, and Prof. Antonio Virgili of the Italian National President of the Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro.
