New online game from Groupe de Secours Catastrophe Français helps families learn how to react to disasters and emergencies
On the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Groupe de Secours Catastrophe Français (GSCF), a French humanitarian firefighter NGO specialized in urban search and rescue since 1999, is launching "Saurez-vous réagir ?" ("Would you know how to react?") on 13 October 2026.
The author designed this free online game, inspired by his book "Tout peut changer en une minute" ("Everything can change in one minute"), to teach the right reflexes before, during and after a disaster or emergency. Players face concrete situations (an earthquake, smoke, a power, water or phone outage, conflicting information) and receive an immediate explanation of the right action.
It echoes this year's theme for International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, "Resilience Starts at Home": the game is designed to be played as a family, from age 6 up to expert level, as well as in schools and workplaces. It is free, requires no registration and works on computer, tablet and phone.
The game is designed in French and can already be played in many other languages through the automatic translation of the web browser (Google Translate).
