Aston Crisis Management Centre event 2026: Resilience Starts at Home
Aston University, England
- English
Come join us for this half a day event looking at resilience and the role of new technologies with two discussion panels.
Communities are being affected globally by the confluence of climate change and geopolitical challenges. Earthquakes in Venezuela and the Philippines, flash floods in Nepal, and heatwaves in Europe are just some examples of the situations experienced this year. Considering the importance of empowering community members to face these challenges, the UN has designated "Resilience Starts at Home" as the theme for the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2026.
Come and join us for a half-day event of the Aston Crisis Management Centre where we will be discussing how to promote resilience in UK communities and we will explore the potential of technological advances to help communities face the impact of disruptions. The event will take place at Aston University on November 4th (Registration starts at 9:00). The event brings together academics from leading UK universities and professionals from UK Government, NGOs, and humanitarian organisations.
The Aston Crisis Management Centre is a research centre focused on enhancing decision-making capabilities for organisations preparing for and responding to emergencies and humanitarian crisis. The purpose of this event is to promote discussion about the challenges and new trends in the area aiming to promote resilient communities in the UK and globally. There will be opportunity for networking and we will share insights from our doctoral researchers in a poster session.
The event is completely free and lunch will be provided. Instructions about getting to the University are available here and detailed instructions about the venue will be sent to registered participants.
