The aim of the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) is to enable, develop and support world-leading research and knowledge exchange in hazard, risk and resilience by bringing together academics, practitioners, policy makers and local communities. IHRR's research aims to improve human responses to both age-old environmental hazards as well as the new and uncertain risks of climate change, surveillance, terror, banking and emerging technologies. It also focuses particularly on the nature of hazard, risk and vulnerability in the developing world.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
