In August 2017, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) became a member of the Global ARISE initiative. Later in March 2019, ARISE INDIA Network was launched by UNDRR SRSG Ms Mami Mizutori, in New Delhi , India.
FICCI, the oldest and largest Chambers of Commerce in India, provides the Secretariat for ARISE INDIA. FICCI was founded in 1926 and comprises over 250,000 companies from 68 different sectors such as pharmaceutical, chemical, power, IT, telecommunications, agriculture, textiles, media, and petro-chemicals.
ARISE India members are a sub-set of FICCI and there are currently over 350 members.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
