The 2020 edition of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) focuses on “good risk governance”. Many disasters can be avoided or minimized if there are disaster disk deduction strategies and national adaptation plans in place to manage and reduce existing levels of risk and to avoid the creation of new risk.
In recognition of the need for a coherent approach to addressing the climate emergency and associated disaster risk, UNFCCC and UNDRR will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
