Technical workshop on strengthening disaster risk governance in the IORA region
Saint Denis, Reunion Island
The Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), in collaboration with regional and international partners, is convening a five-day technical workshop focused on advancing disaster risk governance across its Member States. The workshop is supported by the European Union through the RDRM-IO programme, the French Agency for Development (AFD), and the Republic of France, with technical contributions from the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), UNDRR, PIROI, and IFRC.
This workshop builds on IORA's commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable development, recognizing the increasing vulnerability of the Indian Ocean region to natural hazards and climate-related risks. It provides a platform for Member States to engage in dialogue, share experiences, and explore collaborative approaches to strengthening disaster risk management.
The event will bring together representatives from governments, regional organizations, and technical agencies to foster cooperation and exchange knowledge in support of resilience-building efforts across the Indian Ocean region.
