About

The resilient housing roundtable, co-organized by UN-Habitat, UNDRR and Global Cities Hub, will link the Mayors Forum in Geneva with IDDRR. It will bring together mayors, urban planners, architects, policymakers, financial institutions, and resilience experts to Geneva, and together with experts from Geneva, to examine how housing resilience can strengthen broader urban resilience outcomes. As climate change, disaster risk, infrastructure stress and housing insecurity intensify, the discussion will move beyond the individual housing unit to address the resilience of the broader housing ecosystem, encompassing land-use planning, infrastructure networks, service delivery, governance, financing and community capacities. With particular attention to risk-informed urban development, resilient infrastructure, sustainable building practices, and reducing vulnerability across formal and informal settlements, the roundtable aims to bridge policy and practice by identifying actionable pathways for embedding resilience into housing systems, urban planning and investment decisions.
