The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) is observed annually on 13 October to celebrate global efforts to reduce disaster risk and losses, in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
Under the 2025 global theme "Fund Resilience, Not Disasters," the Arab Regional Commemoration in Manama, Bahrain will bring together government officials, regional and international organizations, the private sector, and development partners to underscore the urgent need for risk-informed investment and sustainable financing for resilience.
The event will serve as a regional platform to exchange experiences, showcase good practices, and promote innovative financing mechanisms that can reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen resilience across the Arab region.
Discussions will focus on aligning disaster risk reduction (DRR) financing with climate adaptation and sustainable development, encouraging stronger public-private partnerships, and supporting Arab States in developing coordinated approaches to financing resilience.
Through high-level dialogues and interactive exchanges, participants will reaffirm the region's commitment to investing in resilience today to prevent the disasters of tomorrow.
