The NGO Committee on Sustainable Development-NY, the Sendai Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM), UN-Habitat, and the NGO Major Group Urban Cluster, along with other partner organizations, will organize a webinar to mark IDDRR that builds on the outcomes of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku and the Political Declaration to Renew Commitment and Accelerate the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda. Discussions will highlight a multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder, and multi-hazard approach to resilience that recognizes the complexity and interconnectedness of urban systems. The event will showcase initiatives and insights that strengthen collaboration among governments, communities, the private sector, academia, and civil society to reduce disaster risk, address underlying vulnerabilities, and enhance adaptive capacities. Attention will be given to investing in resilient housing, elevating the role of the private sector in reducing housing-related risks, and empowering vulnerable communities to take risk-informed actions that protect lives, livelihoods, and homes, ensuring that no one is left behind.
