About

As part of its 10th-year celebration, the OML Center will be holding a multi-sectoral symposium to discuss the state of the Philippine climate and its impacts, and identify and address climate adaptation and climate information gaps in policy and action.

Titled “Future-Proofing PH Communities: A Multisectoral Dialogue on Bridging Climate Knowledge to Action,” the event will be held on October 12, 2022, from 9:00 am to 12:00 nn via Zoom, and will promote collaborations for the continuous development of solutions between government and non-government climate actors.

Composed of three parts, the symposium is designed to provide a knowledge-to-action pathway for the different sectors.

  • The first plenary session will provide an overview of climate change trends and projections, as well as their sectoral impacts to the Philippines.
  • The second plenary session will focus on policy responses to climate change adaptation, and will feature a multi-stakeholder panel to discuss how their sectors are responding to climate change impacts and adaptation gaps.
  • The symposium will be concluded by parallel workshops on the process of co-production in developing climate information for adaptation, and the use of online tools that can help local government units ensure science- and evidence-based adaptation planning.

The symposium will be of particular interest to collaborators in the climate change space from national and local governments, research and academe, private sector, civil society organizations, and advocacy communities.
