About
On the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (13 October), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), will host a global event to spotlight innovative approaches for scaling up DRR investments in agrifood systems.
Showcasing tools such as risk transfer mechanisms, anticipatory financing, community contingency funds, and village savings and loan associations, the event will highlight how DRR solutions can empower vulnerable communities and transform agrifood systems. The event aims to promote greater investment in DRR, share practical experiences and success stories, and identify strategies to scale up funding and technical support. In the face of escalating needs and shrinking resources, shifting from reaction to prevention is not only cost-effective but essential to achieving sustainable, resilient futures for all.
