About

The Aston Crisis Management Centre is a research centre focused on the analysis of challenges faced by different stakeholders caused by disasters, crises, and disruptions. The Centre’s purpose is to provide support and design solutions that can be relevant in practice.

It is our pleasure to invite you to a day event to hear different perspectives about the development of resilient communities as part of the Disaster Risk Reduction Day on October 13th. The morning talks will be delivered by Dr Robert MacFarlane (OBE, Deputy Director, Security, Continuity, Resilience and Response, DWP, Head of Government Business Continuity Specialism in the UK) and Mr. Cyprien Fabre (Policy Advisor, Fragility, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance, OECD-OCDE.) The afternoon sessions will include talks from Dr. Mary Orhewere (Assistant Director, Environmental Public Health, Health Protection & Place, Public Health Division, Partnerships, Insight and Prevention Directorate, Birmingham City Council) and Dr. Dónal O'Mathúna (Associate Professor, College of Nursing, Ohio State University). There will be interactive sessions to discuss current problems and potential opportunities for further development to promote resilience.

The event is completely free and accessible to the general audience.
