Chalmers IDDRR webinar will be organized by the Department of Space Earth and Environment, to mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. The talk this year will be given by Dr. Toste Tanhua about "Ocean Observing for disaster risk reduction".

Speaker information

Dr. rer. nat. Toste Tanhua is a chemical oceanographer working at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, Germany, and the Co-Chair of the Global Ocean Observing System(GOOS). After graduating from Göteborg University with a doctoral degree in Analytical and Marine Chemistry, he continued his scientific career in ocean science in Sweden, the USA, and Germany. Meanwhile, he has participated in 35 marine research expeditions in the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea and to the Arctic, Atlantic, Antarctic Oceans since 1992. His research interests include ocean ventilation and mixing, sustained ocean observing systems, novel tracer development, etc.
